| Board Meeting on February 4, 2020 8 Attendees: Carol MacLeod Clark DesSoye Jason Isaak Judy Rollings Kirt Shineman Patti Suarez Richard Powers Hardt Steven Mastroieni Previous Board Meeting Minutes Approved President`s Report - The Wasserman Foundation gave The Studio a $3,000 donation and several smaller donations came in - Total fundraising total just over $35k, still need to reach $100k to get through next year - Need focused Board committees on: -- Grants (see below) -- Group Sales: Marney has agreed to head committee -- Maintenance: Patti and Carol -- Fundraising: Steve is researching appropriate foundations to approach; Carol with draft letter to email subscribers/members - TCC was just a come on, not appropriate for The Studio at this time - Maya is assisting with graphics - Still no word on when Paradise Valley Mall redesign will begin. Plans so far include three Fox concept restaurants (2 high-end ones), so that should help attract audience - Maureen did not return to the Board this year Financial Committee Report - there is currently $22,000+ in the bank - The Studio does not have any debt! - for the second year in a row, ticket sales are down, like for most theatres in town - Several grants look like good fits for The Studio: -- Judy R, Richard, Kirt and Jason will be on the Grants Committee and research possibilities and apply -- Phoenix Arts & Culture grants for Projects or Operational (guidelines will be released Feb 12) -- review several Arizona humanities -- American Express Foundation seems like a perfect fit (Carol) and will be applied for Member Committee Report Business Committee Report - Rick's fundraising video is being revised and then will be shared with Board Marketing Committee Report - Ben had to resign from marketing committee, Carol is recruiting for a new committee chair - Committee meeting scheduled for Feb 17 at 6pm Other Business Classes: -- Carol will do acting classes starting March 7 -- Kirt can do a 4 class series on Moment Work on consecutive Sat or Sun, there will be a fee -- Judy R can do directing classes, schedule to be determined Adjourned at 7:05pm | 19 Board Meeting Minutes |
