| Board Meeting on June 20, 2020 8 Attendees: Amy O`Loughlin Carol MacLeod Clark DesSoye Judy Lebeau Judy Rollings Marney Austin Patti Suarez Steven Mastroieni 10:30 am President`s Report Carol: I had a very good conversation with the VP from Whitestone today (June 18, 2020), Dan Kovoskovich, VP Southwest. They have 206 leases in Phoenix-Scottsdale and they are in the midst of working on rent abatement with those in need. He apologized for not getting back to us but they realize we are an extraordinary case and they have just been "kicking the can down the road." They would like to maybe find a solution in an extension of our lease but would wait on that until whenever we are able to safely reopen with our productions. My query is always about the accumulating debt...he told me not to worry about that...they are not going to close us down...and we can address the balance when the time comes to work on a lease extension. They are abreast of our upcoming podcasts, and new wave of fundraising efforts (which will be easier now since we can announce the landlord is carrying us), that we still have a space and will need donations to secure our survival. Told him we do not know when we might be opening and he said they will discuss it when The Studio opens. They did request that we send them whatever we can after we have paid our bills and that entails no specific amount. Financial Committee Report There is a grant pending, Phoenix Arts and Culture, for $10K Main focus of next scheduled Board Meeting should be fundraising. Business Committee Report Can tell patrons that the landlord is going to carry us through the COVID crisis and begin sending out the videos Michael is working on. Putting the survey together still, but several members agree that it might not be worth it to invest in a survey today, as the information it gives us will not be too valuable. Herberger will not open until December at the earliest (probably not even then), according to Judy Rollings. We should be investing in the website and promoting the fact that The Studio will be coming back at some time. Carol will ask Alexis to help with the site (and will pay her, if necessary). Other Business Patti mentioned that Chapperal Commons is very reasonable cost. It has a very nice amphatheater space. It is across from her home, where The Studio could rehearse. They also have some indoor spaces. It is part of a church, but the theatre space is very separate. 10239 N 65th Place. Consider using two venues (rehearse in one perform in the other to shorten space between shows). Carol wants to send email to all the artistic members (15% of annual income) and ask them to pay their dues, which they can claim as a donation, if The Studio remains closed for the season.
